Containment comes first in every spill plan. Boom selection follows the water: freeboard and draught to the waves and current, tension strength to the mooring loads, material (PVC, PU or rubber) to the oil type and the deployment regime. Reels, anchors and lights complete the system.
Recovery is the second half: skimmers lift the contained oil off the water. Multi-function skimmers recover with brush, disc or drum modules matched to the oil viscosity, at rates from a few cubic metres an hour for harbour kits to major-incident capacities; weir skimmers take the surface layer over an adjustable weir into a collection sump, suited to thicker accumulations and calmer water. Both run from diesel or hydraulic power packs sized to the recovery rate, with hoses and fittings as part of the system.
